THRESHOLD

A woman’s passage between what was and what is becoming

You may be arriving here because…

There are times in a woman's life when the familiar maps no longer tell the truth.

Something has ended, changed, or begun quietly asking to change. A relationship. A role. A way of belonging. The body you have known. The work that once carried meaning. The person you have learned to be.

These passages do not belong to any particular age or season of a woman's life. They arrive through love and loss, motherhood and not-motherhood, work and calling, illness and healing, relationship and separation, creativity, sexuality, spiritual life, aging, home and belonging.

Perhaps you have built a life that makes sense from the outside, yet some deeper part of you no longer feels fully expressed within it. You may be exquisitely attuned to others while becoming less certain of what you actually want.

Ways you have learned to belong, to stay safe, to be loved, to succeed or to hold everything together may be showing themselves more clearly. Pleasing. Perfectionism. Over-functioning. Self-doubt. Control. Pushing beyond your limits. Looking outside yourself for permission to trust what you already know.

Perhaps you know what is ending but cannot yet see what comes next.

Sometimes nothing visible has happened at all.

You simply know that the life you have been living can no longer be inhabited in quite the same way.

You may feel restless, tender, disoriented, unexpectedly alive. You may find yourself questioning things you once took for granted. You may feel grief for what is changing and, at the very same time, a quiet pull toward something you cannot yet name.

Nothing here needs to be rushed toward resolution.

Threshold is a place to meet this passage without needing to know where it is taking you.

A place to listen closely to what is here. To receive what life is revealing. To find enough ground to remain with uncertainty. And to give what is changing, ending or becoming the time and attention it needs to reveal itself.

“There is a particular kind of medicine in being accompanied through a time when you do not yet know the way.”

THE THRESHOLD

There is a particular power in crossing a threshold beside women who are somewhere in this terrain too. Women who know something of the messy, tender and sometimes bewildering terrain of becoming.

To be witnessed with heart rather than explained. To belong without having to contort. To discover that we do not have to know who we are becoming in order to meet ourselves honestly where we are. Perhaps this passage is less about becoming someone new, or recovering some perfect self we lost along the way. Perhaps it is about becoming intimate with the life that is actually here. Listening to what is true now. Allowing ourselves to be changed by what we meet. Learning what is ours to carry and what can finally be laid down. And giving ourselves, and one another, enough room for whatever comes next to take form
